Freekicks Foundation Mascot

Our Freekicks Foundation Mascot for todays match is Fallon.

Fallon, an Alty fan since age 4, captains the U8 Altrincham Flamingos. This incredible team has only lost twice in two years, scoring over 130 goals last season with their exciting press football! Fallon plays midfield, forward, and goal, but prefers central midfield. A dedicated Liverpool supporter surrounded by rival fans, she recently cheered Ireland to a crucial 3-2 win, keeping their World Cup dream alive. COYBIG!

Paint Altrincham Blue

When I started Paint Altrincham Blue 6 years ago it felt a bit bizarre as an Altrincham FC season ticket holder to be going blue! However, it was for a great cause which was to raise awareness of months health particularly testicular cancer that disproportionately affects younger men, prostate cancer, which is typically thought of as an old man’s illness but Sir Chris Hoy was only 47, the biggest cancer killer of men in the UK and men’s mental health as suicide is the biggest killer of men under 55 and men aged 49-49 have the highest suicide rates in the UK.

My own odyssey with terminal prostate cancer is well known but I didn’t want PAB to be about me hence raising awareness of the three things that affect men throughout all age groups.

Altrincham was the first town in the UK to go Blue but we have since been copied by Heald Blue which is very flattering.

I hope that by raising awareness for 6 years we will have saved some men’s lives.

Remember that it’s okay to talk and if you are having any issues impacting your health, talking about it is a sign of strength not weakness.
