Women are back in Action!

Altrincham FC Women returned to training on the last day of March & were straight into action at the weekend with a behind closed doors friendly against Chester FC Women on Easter Sunday.

Honours were even in a 6 goal thriller at Chester's impressive 1885 Arena.

The Robins led 1-0 & 2-1 but were pegged back on each occasion & it looked as if the home side woukld be the victors when they went into the lead for the first time to make it 3-2 but a last gasp equaliser secured a result for new manager, Nick Pearce, who was taking charge of his first game since being appointed in January.

Altrincham's goalscorers were Jade Hesketh, Megan Rowley & Casey Beamon.

The Women are next in action on Sunday in a behind closed doors fixture against Northwich Vixens at Egerton FC, Knutsford, which will be Altrincham FC Women's home venue this season.

Andy's Man Club Comes to Altrincham FC

We are delighted to be able to support an amazing new group here at Altrincham FC In the Community.

Andy’s Man Club is a free session aimed at getting men aged 18 plus  to open up about their mental health problems and help reduce stigma.

Andy’ Man Club started off as one group in the small, northern town of Halifax. That first night 9 men turned up and spoke. There was a magic in that room that everyone knew had to be shared.

We knew other guys across the country needed this same experience. We have worked tirelessly through Andy’s memory to grow our clubs. We now have 28 groups, and still growing, across the UK.

The clubs were set up in memory of Andy Roberts, who was a loving and doting father, son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He was an all round top guy, one of the truly nicest people.

Sadly and tragically without any warning Andrew, at 23 years old, was taken away from all his family and friends by suicide, which led to his family setting up Andy’s Man Club.

Community Manager Simon Dow was delighted to support this brilliant programme and the opportunity it brings for local men “I first met with Dan from Andy’s Man Club 2 years ago when first discussed bringing a session to Altrincham FC. The idea behind the programme is brilliant and essential especially with the impact the pandemic and lockdowns have had on people’s mental health”

Altrincham FC Director of Football Rob Esteva was delighted to support the new session by organising for both the Altrincham FC & Wrexham FC players to wear Andy’s Man Club T Shirts during the warm up prior to their Vanarama National Fixture on Tuesday 9th February 2021.

This free session will be held every Monday 7pm -9pm and starts on Monday 15th February 2021.

COVID guidelines will be in place to ensure the session can run safely and within Government Guidance for support groups.

For further information or to book a place on the session please email info@andysmanclub.co.uk

Altrincham FC in the Community Sports fundraiser supported by Barclays

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused huge disruption to all of our lives and businesses and that includes charities such as ourselves.

Aswell as grant funding that we receive from the National League Trust and other partners such as Trafford Housing Trust, we rely heavily on the income that is generated by our many community activities such as walking football, yoga, alty mini kickers to name but 3.

National League Trust U11 Girls Community Cup

On Friday 8th November we held our annual National League Trust U11 Girls tournament.

We welcomed 10 schools to Timperley Sports Club for a morning of fantastic football competition.

The standard on show was the highest we have witnessed since starting the competitions. The players showed excellent attitudes throughout and played some fantastic football.

After some close games in the group stages the final was another close match between Stamford Park Junior School & Bowdon C of E.

A late winner from Bowdon C of E sealed the cup for them and gives them the opportunity to represent Altrincham FC at the National League Trust Regional Tournament after Christmas.

We are delighted to announce that we have been approved to deliver the Premier League Primary Stars programme for the 2019/20 & 2020/21 academic years.

This is a world class programme that enables our coaching team to support teachers with their PE delivery and ensure High Quality PE is delivered to their pupils.

A new aspect for the next two years will see us offering support to schools in the form of Reading stars, Maths support and PSHE which will further embed our support in Altrincham Schools.

Community Sports Manager Simon Dow commented “We are extremely excited to be delivering Tier 5 of Primary stars for the next two years . The coaching team love delivering this programme and feel it not only enhances the teachers and children’s experiences but also their own delivery through the support we receive from the FA PE Unit & Premier League.”

U9 Altrincham FC In the Community NLT Cup

We had the pleasure of welcoming over 200 children from 13 different Altrincham primary schools to the J.Davidson stadium on Monday 13th May for our annual U9 Boys & U9 Girls national league football tournament.

15 rounds of group matches were played before the semi finals took place, the standard throughout the group games was exceptional, with the children showing confidence on the ball and excellent game awareness.

The semi finals were another close round of games with the eventual winners going through to the finals.

For the boys it was Bowdon Church school v St Vincent’s with St Vincent’s the eventual winners in a tense final.

The girls final was between Oldfield Brow & Bowdon Church school. This brilliant game went to penalties when the teams couldn’t be separated even after extra time. Even the penalties went to sudden death with Bowdon Church school the eventual winners.

All the games were played in a fantastic spirit and we would like to to thank all the school staff & parents for bringing the children to the stadium.

A big thanks also to the Altrincham FC community coaches and our referees from our Btec programme.
